It is often the case when the photography technique, light, background, image of the model is perfect, but the pictures turn out dull and gray anyways. And it’s also possible to take a photo on a point and shoot camera and the photos turn out to be interesting and lively. It’s all about the right choice of poses and angles of photography. The better positions you have in stock, the more likely it is that the pictures will turn out to be spectacular, artistic and beautiful.

Both the photographer and the model need to know the poses for photography. The task of the model before the photo shoot is to think over her image. How she wants to see herself in the pictures — romantic, sexy, modest, desperate. What traits of her character does she want to express in the photo. There are common mistakes that almost all models make at first. To avoid gross mistakes and to avoid wasting time, use the tips below.

Face. Eyes. Gaze

During the shooting, the model should look into the camera lens as little as possible. Look anywhere but the lens. When you look away from the camera, focus it on any point or object. Then the look in the picture will be meaningful, instead of empty.

If you look into the lens, the main focus of the photo will be the eyes. The figure, make-up, hairstyle, clothes and entourage will remain in the background. And here it is important that the eyes express an emotion corresponding to the image. And don’t be afraid to experiment here. Play with facial expressions. Depict different emotions on your face: joy, aggressiveness, scream, happiness, surprise, sadness, cunning, fright, passion. Once your face starts working, your body will start taking the right poses. In order not to tire your eyes, close them for a second right before the picture and open them at the signal of the photographer during the picture.

Mouth.

The closed mouth and stiff lips in the photo make the face tight and angry. You should relax your lips and open your mouth a little, although it is important not to overdo it. This way, the face in the photo will turn out to be more sensual and natural.

Stomach.

Don’t forget to watch your stomach. Again, it should not be pulled in so that the ribs are visible. Pull in slightly and tighten a little.

Chin. Neck.

When turning the head, try not to have any folds on the neck. Choose an angle, in which the appearance of wrinkles and folds is minimal. Do not tilt your head back when taking a picture, unless you are taking a profile picture.

Wrists. Palms.

Watch your hands and wrists. They should be relaxed. Palms in profile, turned to the frame with the back side, will look like “excavator buckets” in the photo. Even if you have small and delicate hands. Turn your palms and hands so that the little fingers are closest to the lens.

Fingers

Watch your fingers. Especially if you are holding objects. Fingers should be tender and soft, as much as possible. Watch your little finger! Which is determined to peek out. This little finger will look like a foreign body in the frame.

Elbows. Knees.

Do not point your elbows and knees forward. It will look ugly in the photo. They should be turned from the camera lens.

Shoulders

Don’t hunch your shoulders. Do not raise the shoulder closest to the lens or hide your chin behind it.

Posture. Back. Small of the back.

Try not to hunch over in pictures unless the image requires it. If you take a picture in profile, a beautiful posture and soft smooth lines of the back look very beautiful and feminine in the picture. Straighten up and reach up, in this case, not only your back, but also your breasts and other pros will be in the most advantageous position. A forward pelvis is only good for some of the poses. In most cases, there should always be a bend in the waist.

Listen to the photographer.

It is important to listen to all comments and requests made by the photographer during the photo session. He is the one who looks into the lens of the camera and sees all the defects. What needs to be fixed and what needs to be changed. If you trust the photographer, your pictures will be guaranteed to be of high quality and interest. Don’t skimp out on the photo shoot. Only use professional photographers for services. A few professional and artistic pictures will more than cover an entire photo album of mediocre photos.

Poses.

First of all, you need to be natural in the photo. A big mistake is frozen poses. It is advisable to choose poses that have continuous movement. At the same time, there is no need to run anywhere or actively move. It is enough to use some techniques directly during the shoot. For example, take a deep breath and reach up. Breathing in the photo is a very important point. Do not stand in a pose for more than 4 seconds, otherwise you will look like a statue. You can get into a possible pose and during the shooting make a slight movement forward, backward or sideways, on the inhale.

Try not to stand still during the photo shoot, use clothes, hair, and make-up. Play with hair, accessories, clothes. Sometimes the most awkward poses look very effective. Often, in order to achieve a good picture, your poses will make you uncomfortable. Before the picture is taken, relax the pose and then after a few seconds are up take the most correct position. Thus, you will not get tired, and the poses for the photo session will not look stiff.
